The hallmark of care by a family physician is that you build an important relationship with this skilled provider as support throughout your pregnancy and post-delivery, care for your newborn, and continued care for the years beyond.
With our guidance, you can involve the whole family in your care during pregnancy and the preparation and planning leading up to the birth of a new family member. Our providers maintain continuity of care as you transition from hospital to home.
We believe that the new baby’s pediatric care begins during pregnancy, and so we focus on a healthy baby as we partner with mom for a healthy pregnancy and positive birth experience.
We have many satisfied moms with wonderful birth experiences to report.
Our physicians provide obstetrics that includes prenatal planning pregnancy care for the mother, delivering babies and care during the postpartum period. Our physicians believe that the new baby’s pediatric care begins during pregnancy, and so we focus on a healthy baby as we partner with mom for a healthy pregnancy and positive birth experience.
Well-Baby or Well-Child Care is regularly scheduled check-ups that include preventive care services and immunizations for your child. So, this is usually covered by most insurances. Family Centered OB physicians care for your newborn from day one and continue that care for the years beyond.
Family Centered OB physicians provide gynecologic care that includes Pap Smears, IUDs, and Contraceptive Implants. We focus on everything related to women’s reproductive health. So, this means we perform annual exams that may consist of breast exams, pelvic exams, and pap smears. We also help with family planning and birth control.
A Pap smear (Papanicolau smear; also known as the Pap test) is a screening test for cervical cancer. The test involves the collection of a sample of cells from a woman’s cervix during a routine pelvic exam. A Pap smear is a simple, quick, and relatively painless screening test. We can also test for HPV, which is the virus that most often causes cervical cancer.
An IUD (Intrauterine Device) is a tiny device that’s put into a woman’s uterus to prevent pregnancy. It’s long-term, reversible, and one of the most effective birth control methods out there. More information here.
A Contraceptive Implant is a hormone-releasing birth control implant that is over 99% effective. It is up to 3 years of continuous pregnancy prevention. More information here.
