Whether it’s welcoming a new baby, coping with teething or the “terrible two’s,” Healthy Steps provides support for new parents as a free service of Western Colorado Pediatric Associates.
While the visits are typically scheduled with Well-Child check-ups, we also offer home visits, informational materials, access to phone support, and referrals to other community resources.
For more information on this service, contact Cathie Clark, Healthy Steps specialist, at 970-254-2525.
Every young patient between the ages of 6 months and 5 years receives a new age-appropriate book at every Well-Child visit. Parents who read to their children prepare them for success in reading and strengthen the parent-child bond.
We Can! Mesa County is an active, fun class to help children achieve a healthy weight through activity and diet changes. Weekly sessions are from 5:00 – 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Contact Western Colorado Pediatric Associates at 970-243-5437.

A Medical Home
The medical home, also known as the patient-centered medical home (PCMH), is a team-based health care system led by a health care provider that is intended to provide comprehensive and continuous medical care to patients with the goal of obtaining maximized health outcomes. It is an approach to providing comprehensive primary care for children, youth and adults and is intended to allow better access to health care, increase satisfaction with care, and improve health. Care coordination is essential and requires additional resources such as health information technology and appropriately-trained staff to provide coordinated care through team-based models.
We offer individualized care whether asthma, ADHD, depression or complicated medical care. We have providers who can help you.
Integrated Behavioral Health services are an important part of the care we offer our young patients. Because we know that emotional/behavioral issues affect a child’s physical health, behavioral health clinicians participate in the medical visit to help address those needs in a team-based approach.
(Doctores que hablan Espanol disponibles)
Dr. Barbara Zind, Dr. Megan Stinar, Dr. Cormac Sookram and Dr. Cecilia Weaver.
We also have translators available in our office to assist you at check-in and during your visit, no matter what provider you see.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
An on-staff Registered Dietitian Nutritionist can personally tailor nutritional advice just for your child’s circumstances. They can help manage chronic diseases such as diabetes and can offer guidance for navigating food allergies, sensitivities and intolerances.
