Your health and safety is our top priority at Primary Care Partners. The COVID-19 vaccine is a significant step in slowing down the spread of the virus. We would like to help you keep updated on what we know and what this means for you.

COVID-19 vaccines currently authorized by the FDA

COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna have recently been approved for emergency use by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Both vaccines have been shown to have few side effects and in large scale clinical studies, have proven to be about 95% effective in protecting against the COVID-19 virus. These vaccines are supported by robust scientific and in-depth analyses. The vaccination targeting COVID-19 will be a critical solution to help combat the pandemic, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is for those 16 and older (16+), while the Moderna vaccine is for those 18 and older (18+).

Initial doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be limited

Link: Phases of Vaccine Distribution

The initial supply of vaccines will be very limited and will be distributed quickly, and efficiently, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment. The highest risk health care staff will receive the vaccine first to ensure patients and their families can continue to receive prompt and excellent care during this Public Health Emergency. Primary Care Partners will follow the State of Colorado’s guidance on which populations of patients to prioritize. Governor Polis recently expanded the first phase of the vaccine distribution to now include individuals that are 70 years of age and older.

The current distribution plan has been broken down into three phases; Winter, Spring, and Summer. Right now, the goal is to get all high-risk healthcare workers, essential workforce, and those 70 years of age and older vaccinated in the Winter. Followed by higher-risk individuals not in these categories in the Spring and the rest of the general public in the Summer.

Please know that we are working diligently to ensure you and your family and friends can receive the vaccine when it becomes available to you. We are committed to providing you with the information you need to receive the vaccine quickly and conveniently.

We encourage you to visit or the Mesa County’s public health department website for the most up-to-date information about the status of the vaccine in our community.
